Lady Elliot Scenic Day Tour




Just a 40 minute flight from Hervey Bay or 30 minutes from Bundaberg lies the gorgeous Lady Elliot Island nestled at the southern tip of the Great Barrier reef.
Experience some of the best snorkeling in the world and encounter spectacular marine life when you join the Lady Elliot Island Scenic Day Tour. Flights depart from Hervey Bay and Bundaberg as well as the Gold Coast and Maroochydore, making the Great Barrier Reef easily accessible to all.
Lady Elliot Island Day Guests Information
Upon arrival at Lady Elliot Island enjoy a welcome refreshment at the Poolside Bistro after being introduced to the activities co-ordinator for an orientation of the island.
Snorkel Equipment, During the day you have the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary Glass Bottom Boat Tour or Guided Boat Snorkel. Departures are usually at 11am or 1pm however they do depend on the tides. The activities co-ordinator will guide you to the Dive Shop where you will need to book your tour, grab your snorkeling equipment and also be fitted for your mask and fins.
Complimentary refresher and learner snorkeling classes are available in the resort pool for those who haven't snorkeled before or would just like a refresher. Before heading out to the reef don't forget to ask which location best suits your swimming ability.
Buffet Lunch, (1.30pm - 2.00pm) Enjoy a buffet lunch and relax in the dining room with a selection of hot and cold meats, vegetables, salads and pastas. Beverages are also available for purchase at the Lagoon Bar.
The Education Centre runs a reef educational video documentary during the day among other activities so please check the activities board in the Education Centre for commencement times and details.
Reef Walk (tide dependent), join an experienced guide and trek across the coral on low tide to learn about the delicate eco system and encounter creatures such as the blue linkia, starfish, octopus, sea cucumbers and various species of coral.
Fish Feeding, the Coral Lagoon is home to numerous tropical fish species, have a close encounter with them when you join the activities staff to hand feed the fish at the fish pool. Please check the activities board in the Education Centre for commencement times and details.
Departure, please return your snorkel equipment and meet outside the dive shop 20 minutes prior to your scheduled return flight.
Lady Elliot Island Activities and Facilities
Reef Education Centre: Experience the reef while still on dry land and visit the Reef Education Centre. The Reef Education Centre houses several aquariums abundant with living coral and small aquatic animals that are native to the Great Barrier Reef surrounding the island. Ideal for school groups, children and other guests, the Reef Education Centre also has a range of educational books, videos and slides explaining the eco system that is the Great Barrier Reef. Slide shows are conducted regularly by the activities staff as well as island and reef walks.
Snorkeling: Lady Elliot Island offers the best reef snorkeling in Australia, snorkel in around the lagoon for a safe encounter with the many marine creatures that inhabit the area such as turtles and many varied species of fish. Guided boat snorkeling and guided snorkeling off the beach is conducted daily by the activity staff.
Glass Bottom Boat Tours: For a unique view of the Great Barrier Reef why not join a guided boat snorkel and witness the under water world full of rainbow coloured coral, fish, sharks and manta rays with out even getting your feet wet. The tours operate daily however they are subject to weather and tidal conditions.
Whale Watching: July to August is the annual migration of the mighty humpback whales who make their way to the warmer Queensland waters to calve. Watch these majestic mammals as the frolic in the waters surrounding Lady Elliot Island with sightings occuring from the reef plateau, directly from the beach, on your scenic flight, whilst diving or from the dive vessel.
